David Thelen was inspired to pursue a career as an educator by the experience he gained after enrolling in an engineering course while in college; after learning about the opportunities in education, Mr. Thelen branched into the field of education, and has continued to grow. He feels that his practice, love for teaching and ongoing education has allowed him to achieve success as a professional. Mr. Thelen earned a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction and a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Wyoming. He is a member of the Heartland singers Group, the Music Educators National Conference (now The National Association for Music Education), and The Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. He is proud to be able to contribute to the ongoing education of high school students, and guide them in the direction of a successful future. He is a five-time recipient of the Optimus of the Year Award as well as the Zone Optimus of the Year Award, and he has also received a Service Award from the Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. In his spare time, Mr. Thelen takes pleasure in traveling, sightseeing and enjoying moments with his grandchildren.
